Fulfilled Promises Bring Hope!

Are there some promises that you know for certain will happen? Are there certain people that you can depend upon following through with their promises? When someone promises you something, do you have hope? What happens when someone breaks their promise to you? Let me tell you how I learned how fulfilled promises bring me hope.

I found that I can depend upon the promises of God because He has an unbroken record of fulfilling all His promises. Joshua told the Israelite this in Joshua 23:14 “And now I am about to go the way of all the earth, and you know in your hearts and souls, all of you, that not one word has failed of all the good things[a] that the Lord your God promised concerning you.” (ESV) But just because one verse in the Bible says this does it mean I can count on it? Yes, it does but let me explain more. Jesus alone fulfilled some 350 to 570 prophesies according to scholars.:2

As we approach Christmas the day, I celebrate the birth of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I will share a few of those prophecies with you. Isaiah 7:14, “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel” (ESV) The virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus. He would be born in Bethlehem. Micah 5:2, “But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days.” (ESV) That He would come from the House of Jacob. “I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near: a star shall come out of Jacob, and a scepter shall rise out of Israel it shall crush the forehead of Moab and break down all the sons of Sheth.” Numbers 24:17 (ESV) That Jesus would come from the House of David. ‘“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: ‘The Lord is our righteousness.’” Jeremiah 23:5-6 (ESV)

What brings me hope is that God has made me promises which I know for certain that will come to pass because He has already fulfilled all of His promises pertaining to the past so I am certain my God who never changes will continue to fulfill His promises to me. The one I cling to everyday is “In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?” John 14:2 (ESV) My eternal life is secure and my room has been or is being construct in heaven because I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead concurring death. In my mind there is no greater hope then this. You to can have this same hope by trusting Jesus. Find out how!

So, join me in counting on the promises of God because He always fulfills His promises. “For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we proclaimed among you, Silvanus and Timothy and I, was not Yes and No, but in him it is always Yes. 20 For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.” 2 Corinthians 1:19-20. I understand that it is not easy to do this but trust me it makes a difference because our source of hope is in Christ alone. Build a relationship with Jesus Christ through thanksgiving and you will have hope. He brings hope no matter what happens to us. He promises us, “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8 (ESV) Then you will be prepared for anything which gives hope. The death of Jesus Christ on the cross satisfied the penalty for my sins and yours as well. It satisfied all my sins from the past, in the present and in the future. My penalty and yours was satisfied on the cross by the death of Jesus, God’s greatest act of love and wrath, who became sin for me and you. It was also God’s greatest act of faithfulness because “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV) Because wisdom shows us, we need to believe in Jesus. I hope that you join me in helping others to choose Jesus.
