The Purpose of this Blog
Have you ever seemed to have lost hope? How have you tried to restore your hope? Did it work? Let me tell you I can answer each of these questions myself. I have lost hope. I have tried to restore my hope myself. It did not work it was a hopeless endeavor. So, I tried another option I ask God to restore my hope. It has worked God has restored my hope because He is the source of hope. Psalms 62:5 says “For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from Him.” (ESV)
The purpose of my blog is to walk you through what I learned about hope. We will look to the scriptures to find out the following information. Where does our hope come from? What is the nature and character of our source of hope? Why should we trust Him with our hopeless feelings?
These are some of the principles we will use in this blog. First of all, God created everything and everyone “For by Him (Jesus) all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through Him and for Him.” Colossians 1:16 (ESV) What God created was perfect. Genesis 1. He created us to be in relationship with Him. Genesis 2. Man sinned. Genesis 3. God had a plan to redeem sinful men. Romans 5:8 says, “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (ESV)
Having written these above principles I suppose that you noticed that I continually referred to The Bible, that is because my hope is to have the reader understand that what I write is coming from a Biblical Worldview not my own. I believe that God has revealed Himself to us through creation, Romans 1:20 says, “For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So, they are without excuse. He has revealed Himself through our conscience, Romans 2:15 says, “They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them.” (ESV) God has revealed Himself through His Son Jesus, Hebrews 1:1-2 says “Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.” (ESV), God has also revealed Himself through His written Word, The Bible, Hebrews 3:16-17 says “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. (ESV) I would like you therefore to walk with me through the Bible and find out how to have hope.
My prayer is that in this Journey together we will find answers for our times of hopelessness and that we will come to know God more intimately.
Jim Hansen is just an ordinary guy. He has been a believer since September 27, 1967 when he accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior. During the last several year God has had Jim going on a journey that has tested his faith and caused him to grow in faith in God. His journey has consisted of being the sole caregiver for a wife who struggled with mental illness which, lead her to hopelessness to the point of suicide. He has continued to walk with God after his lose and this experience and maturity that has him writing the blog.
Jim truly believes that God wanted him to write this blog because God’s Church needed it.
He does not consider himself to be a writer so please forgive his lack of writing ability. He has written this blog for God’s glory and God’s glory alone. Jim hopes that God will bless your life as you learn from his experiences as he was blessed in the biggest trial of His life.
