Trust Brings Hope!

Have you ever trusted someone, and they failed you? Is there anyone you absolutely trust?  What causes you to trust someone or something? What is it that causes you to trust someone or something? Let me tell you about what God taught me about how trust bring hope.

I have come to learn from my experience that trust is something to be earned. I have found that I trust someone too easily. I tend to trust people too easily because I want to believe that people do not try to intentionally deceive others. However, that is probably a weakness in me because the Bible teaches that the hearts of men are desperately evil. “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?” Jeremiah 17:9 (ESV) So, by placing my trust in man is a mistake. Maybe over time and with continued understanding it is possible to trust someone.

So, what do I need to know about someone to decide to trust them? I have found I need to know that someone is not lying to me. I need to understand their character. I need to know their motivation. I need to believe they have my best interest in mind.

I have even found that I cannot fully trust myself. I too like all men have a deceitful heart. I have desires that cause me to be untrustworthy. My own feelings and understanding are not in themselves trustworthy.

Who can I trust in under all circumstances. I have found that I can only truly trust someone who never changes, whose character would not allow Him to lie. I need someone who is out for what is best for me, even though that might not be what I think I want or need. I have found only one who is worthy of my absolute trust.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
It will be healing to your flesh
and refreshment[ to your bones.”
Proverbs 3:5-8 (ESV)

I can absolutely trust in the Lord because He never changes. “For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.” Malachi 3:6 (ESV) He never lies “God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” Numbers 23:19 (ESV) He has my best interest in mind, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV) Above all else God loves me, “and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:19 (ESV)

I pray you will decide to trust in the Lord as I do. It is by trusting in Him that you have hope. Hope because we know we will be with Him always and hope because we know that His victory over the evil in the world will be complete. Understanding that Jesus is the only source of true hope. The death of Jesus Christ on the cross satisfied the penalty for my sins and yours as well. It satisfied all my sins from the past, in the present and in the future. My penalty and yours was satisfied on the cross by the death of Jesus, God’s greatest act of love and wrath, who became sin for me and you. It was also God’s greatest act of faithfulness because “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV) Because wisdom shows us, we need to believe in Jesus. I hope that you join me in helping others to choose Jesus.
