When was the last time someone shared with you? How did it make you feel? When was the last time you shared something with someone else? Was it something substantial? Was it something tangible? Was is it a feeling? Was it a fact? Was it helpful or was it life changing? Do you have something to share that can change someone’s life forever and give them hope that they do not have? When was the last time you shared your own life saving story to someone? Let’s look at how God has taught me how sharing brings hope.
I have found that the Bible teaches me that I should share with others. I should share things to help those who are truly in need. With those who are hungry and thirsty. I should give them food and water. Jesus said, “Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.” Luke 3:11 (ESV) I am to share my home with others.
When sharing our attitude should be out of a pure heart not out of compulsion. “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7 (ESV) It should be out of gratitude because God has blessed me. “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his deed.” Proverbs 19:17 (ESV) and 1 John 3:17 says, “But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?” (ESV) It is because God has blessed me that I share. Now some might say that they have no ability to share because they are in need. That is fine. However, I can share other things besides material things. I can share my time, my talents, and most importantly I can share my reason for hope. Peter says, “But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,” 1 Peter 3:15 (ESV) Since I know Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior, I can share Jesus. Frankly I cannot think of anything that I can share that has greater value than it.
I pray you will spend time in sharing your personal story about accepting Christ as your Lord and Savior with others, not because we are commanded to do so but because you are compelled by the hope that you have in Christ alone. Through Jesus we all have the opportunity to put our wrongs behind us a look with hope for the day He returns. He is there to forgive and forget because He is the one who cares for you no matter the situation and is the only way to truly start anew in this there is true hope. Understanding that Jesus is the only source of true hope. The death of Jesus Christ on the cross satisfied the penalty for my sins and yours as well. It satisfied all my sins from the past, in the present and in the future. My penalty and yours was satisfied on the cross by the death of Jesus, God’s greatest act of love and wrath, who became sin for me and you. It was also God’s greatest act of faithfulness because “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV) Because wisdom shows us, we need to believe in Jesus. I hope that you join me in helping others to choose Jesus.
