An Omniscient God Brings Hope!

Do you know what is going to happen to you tomorrow? I do not. Would it make a difference to you if you knew the future? Do you know anyone who can forecast the future? Would this person who knows your future care for you? I know who can forecast my future and I know He cares for me. Let me share with you what I learned about how an omniscient God brings hope.

I have come to know an omniscient God that brings me hope. So, what does omniscient mean anyway? Someone is omniscient when they have infinite awareness, understanding and insight. As I think about that and apply it to God, I understand that He knows everything that will happen to everyone at any time throughout all of time. He also knows why it is happening and has insight into the consequence of every event that takes place. This gives me great hope because God is never surprised by anything that happens in my life.

You may then ask the question, so why does it matter and why does it bring hope? It matters because He is always there to help me. He has a hope-filled plan for me. One of the passages many of my Christian friends point to for this understanding of hope is found in Jeremiah 29:11. I am going to add a little context to it because Jeremiah 29:11 only talks about a positive thing where Jeremiah 29:10 talks about what will happen first. “For thus says the Lord: When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will visit you, and I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare[b] and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (ESV) God’s plan for Israel was 70 years in captivity and then a blessing. Sometimes we need to go through God’s discipline in order to receive His blessing.

The other thing God has promised me a way out of every trial or temptation. 1 Corinthians 10:13 says, “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” The Greek word peirasmos (πειρζω) can be translated as either temptation or trial. So, whether I am being tempted to do something wrong or have a situation in my life that is trying me God is going to provide me with a way out. This gives me hope.

But I know God also loves me and wants to provide for me like Jesus tells me in the Sermon on the Mount. See Mathew 6:25-34. There are a couple of verses that are important to me. Verse 26, “Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” (ESV) and verses 28-31, “And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?” (ESV) These are just a couple of passages proving to me that my omniscient God loves and cares for me. So, I have hope.

If you have never experienced the omniscient God of the universe that brings hope, could it be you are not yet part of God’s family. If so, do you want to join His family. It is easy to join. Here is how.

I pray you when you need hope you look to the Omniscient God of the universe who has a perfect plan for you even though at times, we do not see it. God cares so much for you He promises to bring change to your life. It is that relationship that solves the problem of sin and brings us hope in the present and the future. I would also encourage you to seek Jesus for He is the only opportunity there is to have eternal life. This is to me the greatest source of hope. In doing so, I believe we will have hope and joy in our everyday lives. Understanding how Jesus Christ grants us access to eternal life, allows us to live in hope. “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” John 17:3 (ESV) At the same time understanding you will live eternally knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ will also bring you the greatest hope. Because of the death of Jesus Christ on the cross, all of our sins were satisfied and the penalty for them was paid. His payment satisfies all my sins from the past, the present and in the future. My penalty and yours was satisfied on the cross by the death of Jesus, God’s greatest act of love and wrath, who became sin for me and you. It was also God’s greatest act of faithfulness because “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV) Because holiness shows us, we need to believe in Jesus. I hope that you join me in helping others to choose Jesus.
