Truth Brings Hope!

Pontius Pilate asked the greatest authority on truth to ever to live a profound question, “What is truth?” I ask you today the same question but I truly want you to give an honest answer. Where does truth come from? Can you know it? Is it the foundation for everything? Where do you find it? How does it bring hope? Let me share with you what I have learned about truth and how it brings hope.

When Pontius Pilate asked Jesus the question, I do not believe he wanted the answer. I believe that he already knew the answer. But like many people he did not like the answer that Jesus was going to give him. Jesus had previously stated the source of truth in John 14:6, “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” (ESV)

Given that Jesus is truth He must also be the source of all truth. How can that be you ask. I am currently reading a book be Dr. Jeff Myers, President of Summit Ministries called “Truth Changes Everything” In the book he writes about how Jesus bring the Truth affects every aspect of life. In the book he talks about it affecting human dignity, science, education, politics, the arts, true justice, and labor or work. As a follower of Christ I can make a difference because I know the source of truth personally. Jesus lives in me and affects every aspect of my life. I think differently. I act differently and I hope differently. This is because everything I do is because I believe in what is true.

In a message I heard a message from Dr. Myer at Grace Church Eden Prairie. In his message he quoted a well-known French atheist, Luc Ferry who said, “It is to Christianity that Western Civilization ‘owed its entire democratic inheritance.”

I have also found that I can know truth. I can know it because the source of all truth told me that I can know the truth. John 8:31-32 says, “So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

The truth is I see that there are only two choices that we have in life. I can choose to accept God’s free gift of eternal life with Him or I can reject His gift and spend eternity separated from God and burn in the eternal fire. I pray you choose to accept His gift. You can learn how here.

I pray that you will find truth and depend upon it as you live out your life knowing ultimately that the truth will bring you eternal life as I am by knowing you can trust the truth of the promises of God and realize the same love and hope that only comes from Jesus. It is through a relationship with God through Jesus that solves the problem of sin and brings us hope in the present and the future. I would also encourage you to seek Jesus for He is the only opportunity there is to have eternal life. This is to me the greatest source of hope. In doing so, I believe we will have hope and joy in our everyday lives. Understanding how Jesus Christ grants us access to eternal life, allows us to live in hope. “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” John 17:3 (ESV) At the same time understanding you will live eternally knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ will also bring you the greatest hope. Because of the death of Jesus Christ on the cross satisfied the penalty for sins. His payment satisfies all my sins from the past, the present and in the future. My penalty and yours was satisfied on the cross by the death of Jesus, God’s greatest act of love and wrath, who became sin for me and you. It was also God’s greatest act of faithfulness because “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV) Because holiness shows us, we need to believe in Jesus. I hope that you join me in helping others to choose Jesus.
