Trusting Brings Hope!

Have you ever trusted someone and they have failed you? I have. Have you ever trusted someone who has come through for you? I have. How do you know who to trust and who not to trust? There are a lot of scams going on in our society right now. How do you discern if something is a scam? Let me share with you what I have learned about trusting and hope.

Trying to figure out who to trust and who not to trust can be a difficult task. I have found that I need to evaluate the person but in doing so I need to trust God first. I need to ask Him to help me to decern the character of the person I am considering placing my trust. But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one, and we have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things that we command.  May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ. 2 Thessalonians 3:3-5 (ESV) I see here that ultimately God will protect me if I seek His council and help. I listen to the words of a person. I examine their faith. I look into their character. I sometimes even test them. But I always trust God through this whole process, knowing that He will take care of me.

I have also tried to give the person the benefit of the doubt to start with because I believe that we are called to love our neighbors. So, if I love them, I will trust them but then also verify that they are who they say they are. Using the lens of love as describe in 1Corinthians. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” 1Corinthians 13:7 (ESV)

My ultimate decision to trust someone is based on what I have learned about them and also and most importantly what I believe God’s role is in my relationships. I trust in His promise to protect me when I seek Him. I know I can do this because God does not change. He deals with me in the same way all of the time. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8 (ESV)

I pray that you will start trusting others and encourage you to give people the benefit of the doubt. I pray you will seek God and trust who will bring you hope. Know you can trust the promises of God and realize the same hope that only comes from Jesus. It is through a relationship with God through Jesus that solves the problem of sin and brings us hope in the present and the future. I would also encourage you to seek Jesus for He is the only opportunity there is to have eternal life. This is to me the greatest source of hope. In doing so, I believe we will have hope and joy in our everyday lives. Understanding how Jesus Christ grants us access to eternal life, allows us to live in hope. “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” John 17:3 (ESV) At the same time understanding you will live eternally knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ will also bring you the greatest hope. Because of the death of Jesus Christ on the cross satisfied the penalty for sins. His payment satisfies all my sins from the past, the present and in the future. My penalty and yours was satisfied on the cross by the death of Jesus, God’s greatest act of love and wrath, who became sin for me and you. It was also God’s greatest act of faithfulness because “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV) Because holiness shows us, we need to believe in Jesus. I hope that you join me in helping others to choose Jesus.
