Hope is Found in the Just and the Justifier!

Have you ever cried out for justice? I have. When you cried out, who did you cry out to? Was it to law enforcement? Was it a parent? Was it a judge? What do we do when we need someone to be our justifier and help bring about vindication? Did you find someone who could do this? I did. In fact, the person I cry out to for justice and the one who is my justifier are one in the same. Let us see who this justifier is together.

I was listening to a sermon by my Pastor Troy Dobbs on Good Friday and he reminded me a great truth that occurred when Jesus died on the cross for me. (The message starts at 24:45) As Troy expounded on Romans 3:20-26, For by works of the law no human being3 will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. for there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” (ESV) He explained plainly what happened on the Cross of Calvary was that I was justified because Jesus took upon Himself my sins and God the Father poured out His wrath upon Jesus so the just reward for my sins were paid in full. Jesus is my Justifier. The cool thing about Jesus’ death on the cross is that He also became your Justifier if only you believe and receive His gift.

So, what happened on Calvary that day was that God who is just, requires that my sins need to be paid for and the payment for my sin is death. Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (ESV) As Paul continues in verse 23, we see that God provides me a free gift. That gift occurred when Jesus bore my sins on the Cross of Calvary and provided the propitiation that God required for my sins. The important thing for you know is, God’s free gift is offered to you also. All you have to do is accept Jesus.

Join me in reaching out to the just and the justifier. Knowing confidently that you are justified by the only one who is completely just and can justify us. He brings us this hope. Hope is part of the gifts that God gives you when accept Jesus. Understanding that the hope you have is because of the death of Jesus Christ on the cross satisfying the penalty for sins. His payment satisfies all my sins from the past, in the present and in the future. My penalty and yours was satisfied on the cross by the death of Jesus, God’s greatest act of love and wrath, who became sin for me and you. It was also God’s greatest act of faithfulness because “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV) Because wisdom shows us, we need to believe in Jesus. I hope that you join me in helping others to choose Jesus.
