Have you ever asked the question does God really love people? How about does God love evil people? If God loves the whole world why are some people going to go to heaven and some to hell? What is it about God’s love that seems to us humans as being inconsistent? Afterall, if God really loves the world why does He just not forgive us all and bring us to heaven? These are difficult and complex questions that I am not sure that my mind can fully comprehend.
It is perfectly clear to me in the Bible that God loves me. Psalms 36:7 says,
“How precious is your steadfast love, O God! (ESV)
The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings.”
Psalms 118:1 says, “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever!” (ESV)
And Psalms 109:26 say, “Help me, O Lord my God!
Save me according to your steadfast love!” (ESV)
God love for me is what truly brings me hope. It is because of what God does for me that I am able to be the person that I am today. Paul emphasizes that to me in Romans 5:6-8, “For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (ESV) Before time began God had already put together a plan for me so that when I was weak His Son Jesus Christ died for me. I do not understand why God put together this plan for me but I believe that He did because of His great love for me. That is exactly what this passage says and it is also what the most recognized passage in all of the scripture says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (ESV) John 3:16
It is this love that God shows to me that brings me hope as Paul says. “And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” (ESV) God not only sent His son on my behalf but He also sent His Holy Spirit to dwell in me. What an amazing God I serve and you too can serve him.by choosing Jesus.
So, God’s love is there for me and it is there for you as well. The death of Jesus Christ on the cross satisfied the penalty for my sins and yours as well. It satisfied all my sins from the past, in the present and in the future and yours as well. My penalty and yours was satisfied on the cross by the death of Jesus who became sin for me and you. So, if we believe in Jesus All of our wrongs have been justified and forgiven. If not you will face a final judgment. It is your choice. I hope that you choose Jesus.
