A Lamb Brings Hope!

December 23, 2020

Have you ever been trapped in a behavior that you believed was wrong? Have you ever been addicted to something; alcohol, drugs, work, sex, pornography, sleep, laziness or whatever else one can be addicted to? What did you do about it? Are you still addicted? Is there true hope out there for you? Did you ever think that a lamb might be the answer? Let us find out together.

John the Baptist made a very revealing statement in John 1:29, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (ESV) John was talking about Jesus. He is the Lamb of God and He takes away the sins of the world. If you are struggling with or are trapped in anything then Jesus came to take it away. It sounds really simple well that is because it is. The problem is we have to believe that Jesus can take away our sin. So, there is hope that our sins can be taken away from us. We no longer have to be trapped in the cycle of sin-forgiveness-sin-forgiveness. We can sin get forgiven and stop so there is hope.

The Lamb of God, Jesus, came to give us hope. He promised us that He was the source of the hope to come. That He was the source for eternal life. He spoke about it to the Samaritan women at the well in John 4: 13-14, “Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (ESV) When we are trapped in our sin we need a savior we need hope for an eternal life. Eternal life is defined by Jesus as, “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” (ESV) John 17:3

He is also our hope alone. 1 Timothy 1:1 says, “Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope,” (ESV) also Titus 2:11-13 “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,” (ESV) Jesus is not only our hope but our blessed hope. The hope we truly need is the hope that only Jesus can give. It is the hope of eternal life.
