Why is this happening to me? Is there any purpose for what I am going through right now? If there is a purpose what is it? When will this pain, I am going through end? I have asked these questions over and over again during the last several years. Guess what. I have no answers to any of them except that in God’s infallible infinite wisdom He is allowing all of this to happen and because of who God is I can trust that it is for my best and That gives me hope.
So, what is it about God’s wisdom that gives me the knowledge that what is happening to me is the best for me?
Let us take a look at what the Bible says about God’s wisdom and apply it to our lives. In Psalms 104:24 it says, “O Lord, how manifold are your works!
In wisdom have you made them all;
the earth is full of your creatures.” (ESV)
It is clear that all that God does everything with His wisdom. So, what is wisdom? Wisdom is having the experience, knowledge and proper judgement in one’s actions. The good news then is that God does all thing with perfect experience, perfect knowledge, and not just proper but perfect knowledge. This is not in somethings but in all things both that which ge does and that which he allows. Knowing that I can have confidence and hope that what I am going through is exactly what I need to go through in the heart of my loving God, even when I do not feel that it is. This is reinforced in what Paul says, “Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!” Romans 11:23 (ESV)
Daniel points out that God is forever and ever and wisdom and might belong to Him. He changes times and season and kings. It is from God that we receive our wisdom. We do not necessarily gain it from our knowledge and experiences But I know God uses those things to shape our lives and from that we get wisdom and understanding. It is by God’s grace that we become wise and understand things that others may not. This is in part because the Holy Spirit dwells in those of us who believe. Thank God that He has granted to us the wisdom we need because He is wise.
Daniel answered and said:
“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,
to whom belong wisdom and might.
He changes times and seasons;
he removes kings and sets up kings;
he gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to those who have understanding;
he reveals deep and hidden things;
he knows what is in the darkness,
and the light dwells with him.” Daniel 2:20-23(ESV)
Paul points out in Colossians 2:1-3, that part of the purpose for God’s widom is so that we can use it to encourage one another. “For I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you and for those at Laodicea and for all who have not seen me face to face, that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ,in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (ESV)So, are you lacking God’s wisdom, like I do at times? James says that that is okay because all you need to do is ask God. James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” However, there is a prerequisite to receiving God’s wisdom. You must have a relationship with Him through His Son Jesus Christ. If you say now, I want that relationship then get to know Jesus.
