Moses Brings Hope!

Do you know Moses? That is Moses in the Bible. The Moses that brought the Ten Commandments. The one who spoke directly with God. The one who heard from God in a burning bush that was not consumed by the fire. So why would Moses bring me hope? You may ask why since Moses was this great leader and I am not that leader. Let’s look at how God has taught bout Moses and why he brings me hope.

So, what do I know about Moses. He was born an Israelite. He was placed in a small boat in the Nile River near where the princess of Egypt bathed. He was found there by the princess and brought back to the palace to be raised. He was raised in luxury and to be a ruler. He always had a heart though for Israel even though he did not know he was an Israelite. At one point he murdered an Egyptian Exodus 2:14a says, “He answered, ‘Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you mean to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?”’  (ESV).

While he was in exile he had a upfront and personal contact with God in a burning bush Exodus 3:3-4 says, “And Moses said, ‘I will turn aside to see this great sight, why the bush is not burned.’ When the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, ‘Moses, Moses!’ And he said, ‘Here I am.’” He was called to lead God’s chosen people he made excuses on why he could not. I make those excuses at time as well. In the end Moses failed to follow God’s command and was not allowed to enter the promise land.

I find hope in Moses because like me Moses was imperfect. He sinned against God. God used him anyway. In fact Moses is considered to be one of the greatest men in the history of Israel and it was Moses and Elijah who met with Jesus on the mount of transfiguration in Matthew 17:4, “And Peter said to Jesus, ‘Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.’” (ESV) So, I know that God can use me.

I pray you will find hope in Moses as well because like Moses got uses sinful people to accomplish His purposes and since I am sinful, I have hope that God will use me and also use you to accomplish His will. It is through God using us that we find hope confident that we build a relationship with Him through Jesus we all have the opportunity to put our wrongs behind us a look with hope for the day He returns. He is there to forgive and forget because He is the one who cares for you no matter the situation and is the only way to truly start anew in this there is true hope. Understanding that Jesus is the only source of true hope. The death of Jesus Christ on the cross satisfied the penalty for my sins and yours as well. It satisfied all my sins from the past, in the present and in the future. My penalty and yours was satisfied on the cross by the death of Jesus, God’s greatest act of love and wrath, who became sin for me and you. It was also God’s greatest act of faithfulness because “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV) Because wisdom shows us, we need to believe in Jesus. I hope that you join me in helping others to choose Jesus.
