Surprises Bring Hope!

Have you ever been surprised by something? I have. Were your surprises always good? How did you respond to your surprises?  Let me share with you what I learned about how a surprise brings hope.

I have learned over the years that when I am surprised by something God is never surprised by anything. He knows the end from the beginning. He knew beforehand everything that has happened and knows everything that will happen. God is the same and always will be as Moses wrote in Numbers 23 :19, “God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” (ESV) The consistence of God and his all-knowing nature means He is prepared for everything all of the time.

Because God is never surprised. He is ready and able to help me deal with whatever I am surprised about. Isaiah 55:8-9 says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (ESV) He has the ability to bring me through whatever is happening to me. Good or bad it makes no difference.

He provides me with little surprises all the time. The surprise of a butterfly landing right in front of me. The surprise of a new found friendship. The surprise of a new found love. The surprise of devastating loses. He is there to rejoice with me or comfort me depending upon what I need.

Yes, God is there and is not surprised by a devasting lose. He is there to lift me up and carry me through. He instills in me hope that I will make it through because God always has my back.

I pray you that you will embrace your surprise knowing that God is providing for you today. Placing yourself in His caring arms is a safe place to be. God cares so much for you, even in your relationship with God through Jesus, helps change you. It is that relationship that solves the problem of sin and brings us hope in the present and the future. I would also encourage you to seek Jesus for He is the only opportunity there is to have eternal life. This is to me the greatest source of hope. In doing so, I believe we will have hope and joy in our everyday lives. Understanding how Jesus Christ grants us access to eternal life, allows us to live in hope. “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” John 17:3 (ESV) At the same time understanding you will live eternally knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ will also bring you the greatest hope. Because of the death of Jesus Christ on the cross satisfied the penalty for sins. His payment satisfies all my sins from the past, the present and in the future. My penalty and yours was satisfied on the cross by the death of Jesus, God’s greatest act of love and wrath, who became sin for me and you. It was also God’s greatest act of faithfulness because “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV) Because holiness shows us, we need to believe in Jesus. I hope that you join me in helping others to choose Jesus.
