Are there times when your life is not peaceful? I very occasionally do not feel at peace. What happens to you when you do not have peace? What causes you to not be at peace? There are many different things for me. What do you do when you are not at peace? Do you try to find peace yourself? I do. Do you pace around? Do you take sleeping pills? Do you ask God for peace? Let me share with you what I learned.
One of the things that cause me to be restless is confusion. I will often lose sleep when I am confused about what is going on in my life. This occurred quite often during Laura’s mental health issues. I often times tried to figure it out myself first. The only time I had peace was once I turned my confusion over to God to handle it. 1 Corinthians 14:33, “For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.”(ESV)
I have found that my biggest source of peace is knowing my eternal future. I know for certain that I will be with Jesus when I am in heaven. I also know that at the end God will have complete victory over Satan. That also gives me peace. Romans 16:20, “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.” (ESV) You to can have this peace. All you need to do is accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
I have found that God has given me peace. Galatians 5:22-23 says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” (ESV) It is by God’s grace that I have peace, but I must accept His grace and “live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.” 2 Corinthians 13:11b, (ESV)
I have also found that it is not a one-time occasion it is something that God continually gives me. The Apostle Paul tells me this in 2 Thessalonians 3:16, “Now may the Lord of peace Himself continually grant you peace in every circumstance. The Lord be with you all!”(ESV) It is clear that this peace comes when I needed it most. It comes not only when everything is going well but most importantly when things are not going well.
I pray you will accept the peace of God that passes understanding. It is that peace that will bring you hope. I would also encourage you to seek Jesus for He is the only option there is to get eternal life. This is to me the greatest source of peace and hope. In doing so, I believe we will have hope and joy during our everyday lives. Understanding that Jesus Christ allows us to access eternal life, “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” John 17:3 (ESV) This will allow us to have hope. At the same time understanding you will live eternally knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ and this will bring you the greatest hope. Because of the death of Jesus Christ on the cross satisfied the penalty for sins. His payment satisfies all my sins from the past, the present and in the future. My penalty and yours was satisfied on the cross by the death of Jesus, God’s greatest act of love and wrath, who became sin for me and you. It was also God’s greatest act of faithfulness because “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV) Because holiness shows us, we need to believe in Jesus. I hope that you join me in helping others to choose Jesus.
