Have you ever just needed to be held? I have. Was it because you were having a bad day, or week, month or even a year? Have you ever tried to hold onto yourself? I have because I was unwilling to give up control. When you allowed someone to hold you did it bring you hope? It did for me. Let us consider what I have learned about being held.
I must admit, one of the biggest things I miss since the death of my wife Laura to suicide, is that she is no longer here to hold me. You know after a rough day I found great comfort and hope in being held in her arms. Her hug would sooth and relax me. I felt like everything would be okay and I had hope that tomorrow would be better. So, is it true that I no longer have no one to hold me? Yes, maybe not her, but I have found that as I let Him in and ask Him to, God will hold me. A song by Mercy Me has helped me to let go and let God hold me. Listen to “Just Be Held”. I hope it helps you if you need it as it does for me.
I know that in my life I have needed to be held from time to time, and I know that all of us need to be held at times. The problem is that some of us have no human to be held by like me. As a result, I needed to learn that there has always been someone to hold me. I found how God wants to hold on to me when I need to be held. I have found a couple of verses that have helped me to understand God’s provision for me in this way Isaiah 40:30-31 which says “Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” (ESV)
And Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” ESV
What an amazing God I have. He is there for me all the time. All I need to do is let Him be in control of my life which I must admit is not easy because I want to hold on and do it myself. I do know though that the only way I have access to this amazing God is through accepting Jesus as my Lord and Savior. If you have not accepted Jesus, find out how.
Join me in allowing God to hold us in His arms and receive the hope that comes with being held. Just let go and ask God to hold onto us instead of holding on ourselves. We also understand that the death of Jesus on the cross has taken away the sins of mankind. All you need to do is accept Jesus. It is by far the greatest choice you will ever make. Understanding that you will live eternally knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ and this what brings the greatest hope all because of the death of Jesus Christ on the cross satisfying the penalty for sins. His payment satisfies all my sins from the past, in the present and in the future. My penalty and yours was satisfied on the cross by the death of Jesus, God’s greatest act of love and wrath, who became sin for me and you. It was also God’s greatest act of faithfulness because “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV) Because holiness shows us, we need to believe in Jesus. I hope that you join me in helping others to choose Jesus.
