Fulfilled Prophecies Bring Hope!

Do you want to know the future? I think it might be nice sometimes, but I could also see it as a curse. What happens when you know the future and it is bleak and terrible? What if you found out that you were going to die in your sleep tonight? I am not sure I would like to know that, but I am sure of one thing, that if my body were to die tonight, my spirit would be in the presence of Jesus. Part of the reason I am sure of that is because of all of the prophecies that Jesus fulfilled.

Genesis 3:15 says, “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.” (ESV) God tells me here that He has a plan even as early as the fall of man. It was a plan from the beginning of time. The plan was for a woman to bear a son and that this child would ultimately bruise his head. I believe this is a picture of the birth of God’s only Begotten Son Jesus Christ my Lord. This was fulfilled by Jesus being born of Mary.

Genesis 12:3 says, I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” (ESV) The first part of this prophecy was fulfilled in the birth of Jesus. The last part will be complete sometime in the future when Jesus comes back to rule the world.

Isaiah 7:14, “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” (ESV) This was fulfilled in Matthew 1:23

Micah 5:2 says, “But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days.” (ESV) This was fulfilled Matthew 2:5-6

Hosea 11:1 says, “When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.” (ESV) This was fulfilled in Matthew 2:15.

These are just five of the different prophecies concerning Jesus. There are men who are a lot smarter than I am who have figured out the odds of one person fulfilling 8 prophecies is 1×1028. I cannot fathom that number. But that number gives me hope. It gives me hope that what the Bible says must be true. It gives me hope in my future because God has promised me eternal life.

So, join me in getting hope from believing in God’s Word because of the prophecies fulfilled in it. He brings hope no matter what happens to us. He promises us, “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8 (ESV) Then you will be prepared for anything which gives hope. The death of Jesus Christ on the cross satisfied the penalty for my sins and yours as well. It satisfied all my sins from the past, in the present and in the future. My penalty and yours was satisfied on the cross by the death of Jesus, God’s greatest act of love and wrath, who became sin for me and you. It was also God’s greatest act of faithfulness because “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV) Because wisdom shows us, we need to believe in Jesus. I hope that you join me in helping others to choose Jesus.
