Wisdom Brings Hope!

Do you consider yourself to be wise? I struggle with it. Do you wish that you always made wise decisions? I do. How can we make wise decisions? Is there a special place where we can get wisdom? If there is a place to get wisdom, how do we access it? Let me tell you how I found the source for wisdom and how I learned to access it.

The Holy Bible is very clear that God is the source of wisdom. Proverbs 2:6-7a says, “For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
he stores up sound wisdom for the upright;”
(ESV)

Since God is the source of wisdom then, how do we get it from God. I see a clue in the passage. It says God stores it up for the upright. Therefore, a prerequisite for getting wisdom from God is I must be upright. I must be obedient to God. Psalms 111:10 confirms this thought, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;

A good understanding have all those who do His commandments;

His praise endures forever.” (ESV) When the Bible talks about fearing God it is to have awe of Him and an understanding that He is holy and demands holiness to be in relationship with Him. The only way I can be seen as holy in His eyes is to believe in Jesus and Jesus’ death and resurrection that takes away my sins. See how to know Jesus.

Psalm also shows me that I must fear God because it is the first step to wisdom. This is confirmed in several other places in the Scriptures.

I must also understand that God gives me wisdom. “For the Lord gives wisdom;

From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” (ESV) Proverbs 2:6 James 1:5 tells me how to access this wisdom that God gives to me. It is very simple I must ask God for it. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” (ESV)

So, to me when I need to be wise. When I need to make a wise decision, I must seek that wisdom from God. When I do that God grants me the wisdom I need and I have hope because I know that I will make the wise choice. Trust me there are many times when I do not seek God for wisdom when I am making decisions. Sometimes those decisions turn out well. When they do I believe it is because God has already given me wisdom because I fear God. Other times decisions do not work out so well because I lacked wisdom and did not ask for it. In the future I will strive to ask God for wisdom in all my decisions.

So, join me in seeking the wisdom that only God gives us. Ask God because He will always give us wisdom when we ask for it and that gives us hope. God is the only One who can give you true wisdom that leads to hope. He will make all things right as you search to receive hope for yourself and then give hope to others by living in God’s wisdom. The death of Jesus Christ on the cross satisfied the penalty for my sins and yours as well. It satisfied all my sins from the past, in the present and in the future. My penalty and yours was satisfied on the cross by the death of Jesus, God’s greatest act of love and wrath, who became sin for me and you. It was also God’s greatest act of faithfulness because “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV) Because wisdom show us we need to believe in Jesus. I hope that you join me in choosing Jesus.
