Do you need healing? Do you know someone who does? Have you ever prayed for someone to be healed, and the result was not what you wanted? Why do you think that is true? Could it be that the person was healed in a better way? Let me tell you what God has told me about how healing brings hope.
Many of you know that I went through a long ordeal and many hours of prayer for my wife Laura as she struggled with Major Clinical Depression and Borderline Personality Disorder. She spent 8 years in and out of hospital trying to find a way out of her illness. I spent many hours praying that she might be healed. I hoped for it. There was one time that some friends and I thought there was finally a breakthrough that she had finally taken the right steps to be finished with her struggles. We had great hope that our prayers had finally been answered. Well five days later we found out that they had not as she was taken to hospital after her fourth suicide attempt.
A little over 2 years later Laura tried one more time and she ended her life here on earth. However, she did not end her life eternal. See Laura had accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior, so all her pain and suffering was now gone. She was in the arms of her Savior in a new perfect state hse had been completely healed. This is where her hope lied, and it where my hope lies. The Apostle Peter clearly explains this hope that is in me and in Laura. I Peter 2:24, “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.” (ESV) it is this ultimate healing that brings hope.
I like to remind my friends that on must be very specific when one is praying for healing because for someone who believes in Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior healing might not be earthly healing . It could be eternal healing like in Laura’s case. Revelation 21:4 says, “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” (ESV
I pray that you or your loved one finds healing that is a forever healing. The one that comes from the hand of God through the death and resurrection of His Son Jesus. Remember though that all sin is forgivable except the sin of unbelieve in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ on the cross satisfied the penalty for my sins and yours as well. It satisfied all my sins from the past, in the present, and in the future. My penalty and yours were satisfied on the cross by the death of Jesus, God’s greatest act of love and wrath, who became sin for me and you. It was also God’s greatest act of faithfulness because “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV) Because wisdom shows us, we need to believe in Jesus. I hope that you join me in helping others to choose Jesus.
