Anxiety Destroys Hope!

Are you anxious about your life? Are you concerned about your health? Are you worried about your job? How about your family members? There are so many things that we can be anxious about. Let me tell you what God has told me about how anxiety destroys hope,

It is clear to me that God does not want me to be anxious. He instead wants me to cast my cares upon Him. Psalms 55:22 is very clear about this, “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.” (ESV) I know that I struggle at doing this I want to be in control so instead I become anxious. I am getting better, but I still struggle.

Jesus tells me that I should cast my burdens upon him “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 (ESV), and why I should cast why I should cast my burdens on Him in Matthew 6:25-34 it starts out with, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?” (ESV) and it ends with this, “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” (ESV) Pastor Troy Dobbs from Grace Church Eden Prairie gave an excellent message on anxiety.

The Apostle Peter says this is why I should be “Casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7 (ESV) I am reinforced with my hope because Psalms 119:68 says, “You (God) are good and do good; teach me your statutes.”(ESV) I see also in this that I need to look at His Word and study it. I therefore choose not to allow anxiety to control my life by casting my cares on Jesus.

I pray that you will join me in casting our cares upon Jesus because He will take care of them. In doing so you will find the only true source of hope. A life without anxiety is a life filled with hope. Remember though that all sin is forgivable except the sin of unbelieve in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ on the cross satisfied the penalty for my sins and yours as well. It satisfied all my sins from the past, in the present, and in the future. My penalty and yours were satisfied on the cross by the death of Jesus, God’s greatest act of love and wrath, who became sin for me and you. It was also God’s greatest act of faithfulness because “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV) Because wisdom shows us, we need to believe in Jesus. I hope that you join me in helping others to choose Jesus.
