Israel Brings Hope!

I am sure you have seen the news showing protests in Israel. Does it bother you? It bothers me. Do you understand the importance of Israel in the metanarrative of God’s plan? Did you know there are promises and curses associated with how Israel?  Is there a right or wrong side to this issue? Let me tell you about what God taught me about how Israel brings hope.

God in His infinite wisdom chose Israel for His sovereign purpose, and they hold a unique and strategic design in all past, current, and future events. He chose Israel to be His vessel for redemption and gave them the land He owned.

What does this mean today to you and me? It means if God chose Israel, it would be wise for me to do the same. I choose them because of the promises of God on them and the curses associated with not choosing to support Israel. It does not mean that I do not care about others who are at war with Israel. It does not mean that I want to see innocent children harmed. It does not mean that I do not want the war to end. It was not Israel that attacked first it was Hamas. The results of war are terrible, and the loss of life is overwhelming, yet Israel continues to stay in the plans of God.

God promised Israel a land. The land that He promised Israel was His to give because He owned it. Ezekiel 11:17 says, “Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: I will gather you from the peoples and assemble you out of the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.’” (ESV) Along with the promise of the land God made a promise to Abraham about the nations and people in regards to how they treat Israel. Genesis 12:1-3 says, “Now the Lord said to Abram, ‘Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’” (ESV) Because of these passages plus many more, I will choose to support Israel.

God never reneges on His promises or His covenants despite what I do. I will trust in His decisions and know for certain He has a special place for Israel in the metanarrative of history. After all, God is still sovereign!

Pastor Troy Dobbs of Grace Eden Prairie gave a great message on this subject. I would highly recommend that you listen to it sometime.

I pray you will decide to support and embrace Israel and receive the blessings promised by God which gives us hope. Hope because we know we will be blessed by Him always and hope because we know that His victory over the evil in the world will be complete. Understanding Jesus is the only source of true hope. The death of Jesus Christ on the cross satisfied the penalty for my sins and yours as well. It satisfied all my sins from the past, in the present, and in the future. My penalty and yours were satisfied on the cross by the death of Jesus, God’s greatest act of love and wrath, who became sin for me and you. It was also God’s greatest act of faithfulness because “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV) Because wisdom shows us, we need to believe in Jesus.I hope that you join me in helping others to choose Jesus.
