Have you ever just wanted things to start all over? I have. What do you do when that happens? Do you dwell in the past? Do you start each day as if it was a new start? Is it important that you start afresh each morning? How do you start a new day afresh? I do. Let us look at what God has taught me about how a new day brings hope.
There are a few things I have learned about starting a new day. I believe the Apostle Paul expresses the need to forget the past and move forward very well in Philippians 3:13-14, “Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (ESV) I have found the great need to forget the past. For dwelling on the past causes me to be stuck in the pass. It is almost like quicksand; you keep falling deeper and deeper in to the quagmire of pains and suffering in the past. It does not allow you to move forward. Instead, you are trapped. In doing so I no longer press on towards the future and then there sets in a feeling of hopelessness.
Lamentations 3:22-24, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. ‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘therefore I will hope in him.’” (ESV) To me this is another reason to start fresh every morning. God chooses to bless me with a new day, a new start, a fresh beginning. Because of that new beginning I can look ahead for whatever God has in store for me and because of His steadfast love I can endure all things.
Then what is so important to me is that each morning I can start from the beginning. Discard all of my past and look to the future. Since Christ has given me a new self I can start afresh with a great hope of good things to happen to me. The Apostle Paul gave me these encouraging words and instructions, “But that is not the way you learned Christ! — assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” Ephesians 4:20-24(ESV)
I pray that you start to start afresh each morning. The Almighty God of The Universe has given you afresh new day every day He allows us to start a new. He is there to forgive and forget because He is the one who cares for you no matter the situation and is the only way to truly start anew in this there is true hope. Understanding that Jesus is the only source of true hope. The death of Jesus Christ on the cross satisfied the penalty for my sins and yours as well. It satisfied all my sins from the past, in the present and in the future. My penalty and yours was satisfied on the cross by the death of Jesus, God’s greatest act of love and wrath, who became sin for me and you. It was also God’s greatest act of faithfulness because “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV) Because wisdom shows us, we need to believe in Jesus. I hope that you join me in helping others to choose Jesus.
