Promises Bring Hope!

Have you ever promised someone something and came through with your promise. I have. Have you every not fulfilled your promise to someone? I have. How did these to actions affect your relationships? Have you ever been promised something and you got what you were promised? I have. Have you ever been promised something that you never received? I have. When you were not given what you were promised how did you respond? Did you just shrug it off as being typical? Did you stop trusting promise from that person or everyone? Let me share with you what I learned about how promises bring hope.

I have been promised things by many people the vast majority of them have fulfilled what they have promised by there are a few who have not. Over time I have become more cynical of people who promise me something because of the few that did not fulfill what they have promised. Because of a few I am losing hope that others will abide by their promises. I have lost hope.

But why have I lost hope? I believe it is because in general the source of the promises was unreliable. I am therefore coming to the conclusion that everyone who promises me something is unreliable. I have however also come to the conclusion that there is someone who is always reliable. That source of reliability hope is the only true and living God. I have found a source that list five thousand-four hundred-sixty-seven promises of God. I know that for certain all of them are true. To my point that the source of a promise is essential Numbers 23:19 says, “God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” (ESV) So that means that I can depend upon all of those promises. I believe that sometimes man promises something that they are unable to accomplish but God has the ability to accomplish all of His promises. “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:10-11 (ESV) That is why my hope is built totally upon God and the five thousand-four hundred-sixty-seven promises of God.

I pray you that you will join me in trusting in all the promises of God and all that He has done for us. Knowing also as we trust in God’s promises we will see Him and His magnificent plan for our lives that culminates in our eternal life. The first step of trusting in God’s promises is for you to seek Jesus for He is the only opportunity there is to have eternal life and with that comes the hope we find in preparation. This is to me the greatest source of hope. In doing so, I believe we will have hope and joy in our everyday lives. Understanding how Jesus Christ grants us access to eternal life, allows us to live in hope. “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” John 17:3 (ESV) At the same time understanding you will live eternally knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ will also bring you the greatest hope. Because of the death of Jesus Christ on the cross, all of our sins were satisfied and the penalty for them was paid. His payment satisfies all my sins from the past, the present and in the future. My penalty and yours was satisfied on the cross by the death of Jesus, God’s greatest act of love and wrath, who became sin for me and you. It was also God’s greatest act of faithfulness because “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV) Because holiness shows us, we need to believe in Jesus. I hope that you join me in helping others to choose Jesus.
