Have you ever been on a walk and all of a sudden you see something amazing? I have. What happens when you see something amazing? How do you respond to it? Do you think that is nice? Do you say that it was by chance that this amazing thing occurred? Do you look to God and say thank you? I do. Let me share with you what I learned about how hope lives.
There are several things to me about God’s revelations to me. But before we get to that let me talk about the types of revelations that exist. First of all there is general revelations. These are the revelations that everyone sees every day. They may be different things. A really beautiful sunrise, particular cloud formation trees changing colors in the fall, a bird soring in the sky, or a flower. I think you get my meaning. The Bible tells me that these types of revelations make it plan to me that there is a great and powerful God worthy to be praised as the Apostle Paul tells me in Romans 1:19-20, “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made.” (ESV) Psalms 19 also specifically tells me the power o Gods creation it starts out like this,“The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.” Psalms 19:1-2 (ESV)
This type of revelation brings me hope. The wonders of God’s creation speak to me every day. In what it says to me brings me hope.
The second type of revelation is available to most people around the world as it is to me. It is God’s special revelation. That is The Word of God, The Holy Bible. It was written solely for the purpose of reveling God to man. It is God’s way of tell me about Himself. “Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets,” Hebrews 1:1 (ESV) It is my guide on how to live my life. It is my source of hope because it is filled with God’s promises. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,” (ESV) This special revelation brings me hope because it is filled with promises of hope that I know will happen.
The last way He reveals Himself to me is through the indwelling of His Holy Spirit. This one to me is the most amazing of the methods of revelations because it is the one that helps me to understand what is in God’s Word. “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you” John 14:26 (ESV) It is the one that helps me pray when I can not find the words to say. “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” Romans 8:26 (ESV) It is the one that communicates with my spirit on a daily basis. “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?” 1 Corinthians 3:16 (ESV) This extra special revelation is certainly brings me hope. I cannot fathom why the God of the universe wants a relationship with me but is more than a relationship that He wants. He wants to dwell within me.
I pray that you start to see God’s revelation in you life on a daily basis for it is His revelations that we find the only true source of hope as I have. If we seek Jesus then we have true hope, a hope that never fails us because God cares so much for you. He promises to bring change to your life. It is that relationship that solves the problem of sin and brings us hope in the present and the future. I would also encourage you to seek Jesus for He is the only opportunity there is to have eternal life. This is to me the greatest source of hope. In doing so, I believe we will have hope and joy in our everyday lives. Understanding how Jesus Christ grants us access to eternal life, allows us to live in hope. “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” John 17:3 (ESV) At the same time understanding you will live eternally knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ will also bring you the greatest hope. Because of the death of Jesus Christ on the cross, all of our sins were satisfied and the penalty for them was paid. His payment satisfies all my sins from the past, the present and in the future. My penalty and yours was satisfied on the cross by the death of Jesus, God’s greatest act of love and wrath, who became sin for me and you. It was also God’s greatest act of faithfulness because “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV) Because holiness shows us, we need to believe in Jesus. I hope that you join me in helping others to choose Jesus.
